This was our second year at DragonCon, and we're excited to say that it went great! We were set up in the AmericasMart 1 along with the LARPs and table top gaming tables, and it was exciting to see the crowd's reception to our working system!
Con attendees were welcome to test out our equipment, including our new 3D printed wand prototypes by Epic Armoury. After a brief wizard training session with our new and improved app, attendees were invited to our Friday and Saturday evening Spell Slinger Competitions.
Equipment and App Performance: It was great to see everything run smoothly thanks to the help of our volunteers. This was also one of our favorite ways to test out the app and equipment in the hands of actual users. So far, it seems like the app is intuitive and received several compliments.
The Wands: The wands from Epic Armoury were an improvement over our last design, and we're hoping to move forward with them in order to develop an even better aesthetic for the finished product. The vision is to offer wands made of foam with a thin layer of latex over the three buttons, disguising the out-of-game mechanics while players are immersed in our games.

We also discovered that the wands had a spell range that could reach the other end of our giant vendor room, which allows for some fun sniping spell fun.
The Capes/Sensors: While not pictured here, we also had some fun trying out our new Epic Armoury cape prototype for SpellSlingers. The hope is to offer colors based on wizard factions, with sensors attached in an unobtrusive way (hopefully without being seen!). We also had our usual Legacy Game Systems demo capes, pictured below.
With all of this excitement, we are energized as we continue moving forward in development. SpellSlingers, our augmented reality wizard game, is getting closer to completion. The app and the final wand and cape prototypes are currently under development.
